Caustic Christ Limited Tour 7" covers

Here's another DIY photo essay. The last two were on making Limited Regulations LP covers and Kylesa Tour posters. In those we looked at re using old record covers by painting over them and some simple DIY screen printing.
Building on what we did in those projects I decided to try something on a slightly larger scale, 500 record covers. As before I started with some left over 7" covers. My plan was to re use some covers that would otherwise go to waste rather than print new ones up for this release. I think 500 is just about the right number for a doable DIY cover, but too small to justify going to a printer for a real press run. In fact a lot of printers have minimum orders of 1,000, especially for LP covers. So if you are doing a very small pressing, DIY coves might be your only option.
My plan was to paint over the covers and then screen print on them. For the Regulations I used Kilz primer and it took two coats. I used an airless sprayer, usually used in housepainting. This time I decided to use an automotive type sprayer and some gloss enamel paint. The idea was to cut out a step by only having to spray one coat.
