Thrash Fest 3

Thrash Fest 3, Total Fury, Vitamin X, Amdi Petersen’s Arme, Tear It Up, Caustic Christ, Holding On, Nine Shocks Terror. Babylon Gallery, 2002
This Fest was thrown together in record time. It was just luck that Vitamin X, Amdi Petersen’s Arme and Total Fury were on tour at the same time and we got their tours to cross in Minneapolis. I didn’t have the time or money to rent a bigger venue, or get an artist to do original artwork for the flyer. We did the show at Babylon, a local DIY art and music space, which was WAAAY to small for a show this size. (legal capacity 120 people) I bought a van the day before Vitamin X’s tour started and drove it right from the shop to Chicago for their tour. At the end of their tour they played thrash fest and handed over the van and gear to Amdi Petersen’s Arme, at the end of that tour APA handed the van over to Epileptic Terror Attack who used it on their tour. That van had 40,000 miles on it before it spent a full night in Minneapolis. This fest was to me the most powerful and exciting hardcore show of the last 10 years or so, and I don’t say that lightly. There weren’t that many people there, only about 450. But they were all the true die hard fanatics who would not miss such a line up for the world. All the bands really poured it out that night, every set was so full of energy and the atmosphere (it was packed in there) was incredible. The air was thick with stage divers and the pit never died down during the whole show. Total Fury doing SSD’s glue was probably one of the high points of my hardcore music career, the intensity in that room during that show was just beyond description. If you were there you know what I’m talking about, if you weren’t you probably wouldn’t get what separated this very special show from all other shows. Nine Shocks Terror showed up at the very last minute and played last. During their set clevo agitators set up smoke grenades and the room emptied out pretty fast. There are a lot of pcitures floating around from this show, in almost every one there is someone stage diving. We had to scrub footprints off the walls and ceiling to get our damage deposit back. I will remember this show for ever. Truly epic.
